“Songs from end to end in the narrow streets of Heraklion, “Lakkos” Choir with Maria Koti

Every Thursday from 6-8 pm in the picturesque narrow streets near Lakkos, at the “Thyrathen” Museum, cycles of songs from the entire spectrum of musical tradition, regardless of origin and genre, from one end of our world to the other! What can you expect?

1. Nothing is more important than enjoying music and song lyrics as a guaranteed medicine for the affected and troubled areas of our souls!

2. From the urban coasts of Crete and its hinterland, to the Aegean islands, from the south to the north and our Mediterranean neighborhoods, the rebetiko and folk songs of the past to the favorite songs of today, traditional from various corners of Greece but also modern as well as "unknown" rare but also beloved from the music of the world!

3. Readiness exercises in relation to the technique and idioms of songs, the voice as a natural instrument and as an important means of expression of the soul, experimentation and self-knowledge, the decisive role of the group as an occasion for essential coexistence and co-evolution (warm-up, elements of voice therapy, breathing, group exercises, improvisation)

4. Joy, true companionship, tears, laughter. An explosion of love hormones and its consequences, in an era of increased seriousness, relentless anxiety and loneliness when we have special needs to redefine our identity more than ever and when "... Magical images have locked our thinking and speech" (Hainides)...
