THIRATHEN VOCAL GROUP was founded two years ago and is under the auspices and supervision of the Thyrathen Museum located in Krousonas.

t is a polyphonic vocal ensemble whose majority members are accomplished professional musicians and choristers with many years of choral experience. The artistic direction of the ensemble is the conductors Eva Koutsogiannakis - Pitsikakis and Eva Thanasis. The repertoire it covers includes traditional Greek songs, harmonized for four-part choir, as well as polyphonic traditional songs from the Balkan musical tradition. THIRATHEN VOCAL GROUP presents its repertoire without the accompaniment of musical instruments (a capella), thus highlighting in the best way the variety and breadth of both the human voice and our musical polyphonic tradition.

The ensemble has made a series of appearances with various shows in Greece and abroad and has participated in festivals, such as Hyakinthia and the Festival of Choirs of the Region of Crete. Last March, he visited Istanbul, where he presented part of the play for Erotokritos with great success.

There will be two performances, in Viannos and in Heraklion on Friday 12/7 at the cultural center of Viannos municipality and on Saturday 13/07 at the small garden theater, and the entrance to both shows is free.

The performance entitled "The time has come" is part of the year of Erotokritus, it includes songs of the cycle of life from the Mediterranean and the Balkans and is interspersed with the recitation of excerpts from the iconic epic of Vicenzou Kornaros. The performance also includes dramatized parts of customs and symbols of the Greek folklore tradition.
