Museum of Traditional Music "Thyrathen"
The art of the lyre at the center of our new collaboration with Odd Frame – International distinction for the company's film at the Food Film Menu 2025
The Museum of Traditional Music "Thyrathen" is pleased to announce its collaboration with the film production company Odd Frame for the production of the new documentary "The Art of the Lyre in Crete".
This is a creative journey into the history, construction and evolution of the lyre, the most emblematic musical instrument of Crete. With the signature of Odd Frame and the experience of the Museum "Thyrathen" in documenting musical tradition, the documentary will illuminate unknown aspects of the lyre through personal narratives, archival material and interviews with leading lyre players.
This new production continues our long-standing work to highlight the musical instruments of Crete, following the award-winning documentaries “The Art of the Mandolin in Crete” (2017) and “The Art of the Lute in Crete” (2022).
