Just before the opening of schools and with the start of 2024, the Thyrathen Museum of Traditional Musical Instruments Research and Documentation created an educational program for our little friends. Specifically, on Friday, January 5 at 11:00 a.m., the Little Musical Explorers educational program will be implemented in the Museum area.
It concerns children aged from 5 to 12 years old and its purpose is the interaction of the museum's exhibits with the young visitors, familiarization with the musical instruments of the wider Mediterranean region, acquisition of knowledge about the music of the Mediterranean (basic principles of organology, Mediterranean musical tradition & of the Balkans), the interaction of experienced Cretan music with other traditions.
While through this educational program there will be no lack of creation, the children are going to learn a traditional song to build an idiomatic musical instrument from recyclable materials that will keep them learning basic concepts of music naturally through play.
