Manthos Kouklakis and Kostas Kourkounakis - From the Cretan tradition to the early American rebetika.
On Wednesday, June 25th at 2:01 PM, in the special space of the Museum of Traditional Instruments "Thyrathen", music becomes a bridge of cultures that unites the music of Crete with the early rebetika of America, on a journey where sounds meet the magic of tradition. The program will contain two sections, the first of which will take us on a journey to traditional songs that awaken memories and emotions from Chania to Sitia, while the evening will then be filled with sounds and songs recorded by Greek immigrants to America, constituting a sample of the early rebetika with their main exponent Charilaos Piperakis.
A Wednesday with traditional melodies from the island of Crete and not only with the dominant instruments being the lyre, the lute and the Cretan tambourine.
